To strengthen our team at the Sankt Augustin site, we are looking for a full-time Mechanical Engineer (m/f/d) Technical Lead / Project Lead to start as soon as possible.
We are looking for an experienced mechanical engineer (m/f/d) with a focus on plastics technology, toolmaking or a comparable technical background who, in addition to strong hands-on expertise, will also take on responsibility as Technical Lead and Project Lead.
In this role, you will lead development and industrialization projects for IOL injectors and intraocular lenses (IOLs) from a technical perspective, coordinate interdisciplinary teams and be prepared to take on classic project management tasks. The position combines deep technical understanding with leadership and communication skills in a regulated medical technology environment.
Your tasks
- Technical management of development and industrialization projects for IOLs and injectors including technical decision-making responsibility.
- Technical management and coordination of interdisciplinary project teams as well as close coordination with Operations, Quality, Regulatory Affairs and external suppliers.
- Development, design and evaluation of mechanical or optical components and systems, taking into account DFM/DFA, tolerances and series production.
- Planning, control and tracking of project targets (time, quality, costs) incl. Moderation of technical reviews and risk analyses (e.g. DFMEA).
- Ensuring technical documentation and verification in accordance with internal and regulatory requirements.
- Technical transfer of developed products to series production and support for start-up and supplier processes.
- Technical contact and sparring partner for internal stakeholders and external partners in the field of plastic injection molding and toolmaking
Your profile
- Completed studies in mechanical engineering, plastics technology or comparable technical training
- 5-10 years of relevant professional experience in development, construction or industrialization
- Sound knowledge in one or more of the following areas:
- Plastic injection molding and toolmaking
- Precision mechanical engineering / machining
- DFM/DFA, tolerance management and production statistics
- Willingness to take on technical project management tasks
- Structured, solution-oriented way of working and strong communication skills
- Strong technical leadership and decision-making skills
- Ability to communicate complex technical issues in a structured manner
- High degree of personal responsibility and project ownership
- Team orientation and a confident manner towards internal and external partners
- Hands-on mentality paired with strategic thinking
Desirable:
- Experience as a technical lead, project manager or technical team coordinator
- Experience in medical technology or similar highly regulated industries
- Experience with Solidworks
- Experience in ophthalmology, with IOLs, micro-optics or implant systems
