More about the MICROSIL® Diaphragm DP 4128
MICROSIL® DIAPHRAGM DP 4128
In many cases, silicone oil tamponade is indispensable in the surgical treatment of clinical pictures with the risk of tractional retinal re-detachment.
With the special MICROSIL® DIAPHRAGM DP 4128 implant, HumanOptics are the sole manufacturer offering the posterior segment surgeon an ideal option for the treatment of hypotonic, aphakic eyes for permanent or temporary compartmentation of the eye.
The MICROSIL® DIAPHRAGM DP 4128 is a pupillary closed diaphragm made of foldable silicone with an embedded polymer meshwork. The meshwork increases stability for scleral suture fixation. The total diameter of the implant is 12.8 mm with a central transparent zone of 3.5 mm. MICROSIL® DIAPHRAGM DP 4128 – implanted in the sulcus ciliaris – serves as a barrier to restoring compartmentalization of the anterior and posterior eye segments. The diaphragm can prevent penetration of silicone oil into the anterior chamber and thus a silicone oil endothelial contact. The silicone oil can be left in the eye permanently for tamponade and to preserve the bulb in order to prevent re-detachment or phthisis bulbi.
