Are there different intraocular lenses?

Roughly speaking, intraocular lenses can be differentiated according to their material. Although they were only models made of PMMA with stable form and non-foldable characteristics at the beginning of the history of artificial lenses, the surgeon today has in addition silicone and acrylic lenses available. These are easily foldable, safe and simple to implant through a small corneal incisions.

Independent of its material characteristics a lens, which is selected in accordance with individual requirements and medical criteria, can achieve an additional potential improvement in sight. A discussion about your personal expectations and the prior limitations of your sight with your consultant doctor will lead automatically to a better result and a greater success in the improvement of your sight.
